Our Hubs

Scottish Pentathlon has established a number of Regional Hubs across the country, from Aberdeen and Angus in the north east, to Fife and Edinburgh in the central belt and in the Borders and on the Island of Mull.
Working in partnership with Pentathlon GB, Scottish Pentathlon has now in place a agreed set of criteria for the affiliation of all Hubs and Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) for all Regional Hubs to meet before affiliation may be confirmed. Existing Hubs are being supported to meet these standards.

New Hubs for 2024-2025

Through 2024 - 2025 we hope to identify locations for new Hubs. All affiliations of new Regional Hubs will be required to meet the agreed criteria and MOS.

Having met the agreed criteria and MOS, Scottish Pentathlon will support the Regional Hubs to identify and agree an annual programmes of regular training and coaching sessions, events and competitions.

Each Hub must have in place good and sustainable governance and robust safeguarding procedures to give confidence to athletes and parents / guardians that engagement and participation in our sport takes place in an inclusive, safe and fun environment.

Scottish Pentathlon will then also determine, with each Hub that has met the criteria and against an agreed annual programme, appropriate support for volunteer recruitment, kit provision and maintaining and developing partnerships to help sustain growth and build capacity.

It will also be important that to support growth, that each Hub also has a clear plan for outreach and wider engagement with local communities and partners to ensure opportunities for participation in taster sessions and activities are widely disseminated, including contact with local schools, Active Schools & teachers.

Range of Events

To support and sustain engagement in the family of sports, each year Scottish Pentathlon will identify a range of national events to be delivered by the Hubs. These national events will include a number of opportunities from across the Modern Pentathlon competition structure(s) which currently includes the following range of events, with distances set across age groups and according to ability:
