How Will We Know If We Are Succeeding?
Structures and Pathways
SP has maintained strong partnerships with our key stakeholders sportscotland and Pentathlon GB (PGB) while also developing new relationships with universities, schools and community owned facilities to support our family of sports and delivery of our programmes, competitions and events.
Our long-term outcomes for investment from sportscotland are based across the core functions of “Development” and “Effective Organisation”.
Our work has focussed on the introduction of more sustainable regional Hubs, supporting local engagement to increase participation and transition this into formal membership.
We focus on Laser Run as the entry point to the sport, with opportunities to try and then to progress to other sports in the family, including fencing, shooting and OCR as this latter element is rolled out.
Our competition programme is based on individual Hub local events, leading to participation in National Competition (eg: Schools Biathlon, Laser Run and Biathle in 2023 – 2024). In 2024 and forward to 2027 we hope to realise and establish, through Pentathlon GB, opportunities for Obstacle Race training and competition
We also aim to increase our coaching capacity and through implementation of the new coaching framework, our aim in 2024 is to increase our tutor numbers to allow greater flexibility of delivery of qualifications and be less reliant on single access courses.
Finally, we continue to focus on implementing and exhibiting good governance, delivered through successful biennial audits and the achievement of progress in equality and safeguarding standards.
