Pentathlon GB has issued the following statement to launch the new resource which outlines the background and purpose of the new resource which we are sure will be of great help to our own Hubs and clubs.

Statement – Laser Run Leader Launch

Due to members demand on having an entry level resource to the dynamic two discipline sport of Laser Run we have been working over the last 12 months to prepare this online, free, entry level education resource for our pentathlon community to start their Laser Run pathway into Coaching!

Supported by Neil Park at Scottish Pentathlon, sportscotland and Brightspace, the Laser Run Leader Course has been designed to be interactive, educational and provide participants an experience to introduce them to Laser Run.

The online educational platform has been developed by PGB Board member and Liverpool John Moores Sport Coaching Lecturer Dr. Nic Robinson, with extensive input from PGB coaches across the Pentathlon pathway. The intended participants are anyone looking to assist coaches, volunteer at Laser Run events, schoolteachers, scout leaders, parents/careers of athletes….anyone wanting to know more about this fun and exciting sport. Let’s grow our sporting knowledge and spread the word!

Dr. Nic comments ‘We are committed to strengthening our volunteer and coaching pathway across Pentathlon, supporting both new and existing coaches. This course provides an excellent first stepping stone.”

Mike O’Donnell from Scottish Pentathlon’s Fife Hub added ‘ The course is informational and worthwhile, a great introduction to the sport of Laser Run.’

The free online course is accessed through Sportscotland sign up has six interactive learning modules which you can complete in your own time, finishing with a knowledge check assessment.

Once passed you will receive a e-copy downloadable Pentathlon GB Laser Run Leader certificate and Scottish Pentathlon will then support individuals with their PVG application in line with our safeguarding policy for engaging in regulated work with young athletes.
